- Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex Delegation Invited by Taiwanese Daoism; Requests for Exchange from Overseas Religious and Academic Groups Increasing
- 2024-11-26
From November 22nd to 25th, a delegation from the Department of Education visited six temples and palaces (宮廟) in Taiwan upon the invitation of Wuri Shengmu Temple (烏日 聖母宮). This visit followed the visit of a Taiwanese Daoist delegation to the Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex in September, and was conducted for the purpose of religious and cultural exchange.
The delegation of Religious Research & Edification Dept attended the 3rd Anniversary Ceremony of the Qingcheng Qinan Dharma Assembly (慶成祈安法會) at Wuri Shengmu Temple, joining approximately 1,000 adherents from 50 Daoist groups to pray for "Harmonious Winds and Rains, Peace and Prosperity for the Nation and its People (風調雨順 國泰民安)".
Subsequently, the delegation visited five other temples and palaces: Douliu Shoutian Temple (斗六受天宫), Meishan Yuxu Temple (梅山玉虛宮), Xingang Fengtian Temple (新港奉天宮), Beigang Chaotian Temple (北港朝天宮), and Beigang Wude Temple (北港武德宮), where they held discussions with the Chairman of the Board of each institution. A representative from one of the temples expressed their determination: "When we visited the Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex last September, we were deeply impressed by the accomplishments of Daesoon Jinrihoe's Three Major Undertakings. Moving forward, Daoism in Taiwan should also actively strive for practical asceticism and social welfare projects, going beyond mere prayers for fortune".
Another temple representative, noting the high number of young adherents and a strong interest in academic activities, conveyed a request: "We hope that Korea and Taiwan can collaborate to foster talent with international perspective and capabilities for the next generation". They added, "We request international exchanges with Daesoon Jinrihoe, including youth exchange, academic exchange, and religious exchange".
Recently, there has been great interest in Daesoon Jinrihoe from foreign religious organizations and scholars. The foundation for promoting Daesoon Jinrihoe to the world is gradually being solidified through events such as the confirmed visit of the Department of Cultural Anthropology from Kansas State University in the U.S. in July 2025, the requests for exchange from Taiwanese Daoist temples, and the requests for religious and academic (youth) exchange with Oomoto in Japan. Timely for these developments, an International Convention Center is currently being constructed at the Yeoju Headquarters Temple Complex to facilitate international activities and exchanges.
As international exchange gradually increases alongside volunteer activities, it is hoped that the International Training Center, which will serve as a venue for these exchanges, will be urgently completed and become a transmission tower to spread Daesoon Jinrihoe to the world.
