Daejin University’s Department of Industrial Design Wins Bronze at the U.S. IDEA Design Awards
Nam Hyun-gyu and Lee Do-ryeol, student researchers at HXI Design Lab in Daejin University’s Department of Industrial Design, received the Bronze Award at the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). The students conducted their research under the guidance of Professor Song Gyu-ho. IDEA is recognized as one of the world's three major design awards, alongside Germany's Red Dot Design Award and iF Design Award. Winners are selected through a comprehensive evaluation of design innovation, user experience, and social impact. The award-winning work, MUSIT, is a furniture design that uses mushroom mycelium, an eco-friendly material. It received high praise for addressing contemporary social issues from a user-centered perspective and translating those insights into innovative design solutions. Nam Hyun-gyu and Lee Do-ryeol expressed their excitement, saying, “We are delighted that our countless hours of research and dedication, day and night, have led to recognition at such a prestigious international design competition.” Professor Song Gyu-ho commented, “I hope this achievement, made possible by the students’ months of hard work, will serve as an inspiration to younger students.”

Yeoju Headquarters Temple Delivers 100 Sacks of White Rice to Gangcheon-myeon
On September 7, the Yeoju Headquarters Temple delivered 100 20kg sacks of white rice to the Gangcheon-myeon Administrative Welfare Center (Head Bae In-soo) in celebration of Chuseok. Dalseong Bangmyeon (Branch) Donates Relief Supplies to Neighbors in Need for Chuseok
On September 5, the Dalseong Bangmyeon (Branch) donated 300 boxes of instant noodles worth approximately 4.5 million won to the Daemyeong 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Nam-gu, Daegu, ahead of Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving). A center official expressed gratitude, saying, “We are grateful for the generous donations made every year without fail. Daejin International Volunteer Group Delivers Relief Supplies to Flood-Stricken Areas
On August 31, the Daejin International Volunteer Group (hereafter DIVA) visited Tongyeong and Geoje cities, which suffered severe damage from recent record-breaking torrential rains, to comfort affected residents and deliver relief supplies. This support initiative was launched to help local residents who suffered from floods and landslides caused by the heavy rainfall in mid-August. Upon hearing the news of the disaster, DIVA cooperated with the Yeooju Volunteer Center to promptly identify the supplies needed on-site, preparing and delivering 30 sets of summer blankets valued at approximately 3 million won. DIVA's relief activities are a practical implementation of the teachings of Dojeon (Leader), which state, "Take the lead in relieving disaster victims who have suffered unexpected calamities." Such disaster relief activities are part of the relief and charity projects that have been continuously carried out since the establishment of the religious order, following last year's delivery of disaster support funds for the Goseong wildfire and continuing this year. Daejin Design High School Wins Silver, Bronze, and Excellence Awards at the 61st National Skills Competition
Students from the Advanced Major Club at Daejin Design High School (Principal: Kim Seong-ho) achieved outstanding results in the Animation category at the 61st National Skills Competition, held in Incheon from August 22 to 28, winning a Silver Award, a Bronze Award, and an Excellence Award. As the only specialized design high school in Gangnam, Daejin Design High School has demonstrated its exceptional technical skills and high-quality work once again at the national competition, following its 13th consecutive gold medal at the Seoul Metropolitan City Skills Competition in April. The school swept several major awards with works that showcased both technical expertise and a high level of artistic completion. In particular, the achievements of the second-year students drew considerable attention, as they secured top rankings while competing against highly skilled third-year students. Principal Kim Seong-ho said, “I extend my deepest applause to our students, who challenged themselves with unwavering determination, and to the teachers who guided and supported them throughout the process. Our school remains committed to creating a communication-centered educational environment to nurture talented individuals equipped with both strong character and creativity.”
