  • Taiwanese Taoist Temples Visit Yeoju Headquarters Temple
On September 27, a total of 65 representatives visited the Daesoon Jinrihoe Yeoju Headquarters Temple. The delegation included representatives from the Wuri Shengmu Temple and eight other temples—Songshan Ciyou Temple, Xingang Fengtian Temple, Beigang Chaotian Temple, Xiluo Fuxing Temple, Beigang Wude Temple, Mailiao Gongfan Temple, Datong Tiansheng Temple, and Taichung Fuxing Temple—as well as one association, the Kaishan Mazu Association. Organized for the purpose of religious and cultural exchange between Korea and Taiwan, the Taoist groups spent time learning about Daesoon Jinrihoe by touring the Yeoju Headquarters Temple and visiting the museum. At the welcome dinner that followed, Director Yoon Eun-do delivered a welcome speech, followed by introductions of each group. The exchange began in earnest with celebratory performances, including traditional Korean instrumental music and traditional vocal performances (Changsori). In his speech, Director Yoon Eun-do stated, "Dojeon, who established Daesoon Jinrihoe, taught that 'Haewon-sangsaeng (Resolution of Grievances for Mutual Beneficence) is a philosophy of peace that helps others succeed.'" He added, "This religious value is a precious asset and mission that must be continued. Since inheriting and developing this depends on the younger generation, who are our future, I hope for mutual visits, including youth exchanges, with our Taoist friends from Taiwan." Following this, Wu Jin-lian, the founder of Shengmu Temple, expressed her hope, saying, "Starting with this exchange event, I hope Korea and Taiwan can pioneer a better environment for the next generation. I hope we can create a foundation where our successors can grow well by preserving tradition and culture while simultaneously enhancing their international perspective and literacy."
